Sign (Primitive Architecture)

2022
Acrylic, detergent, and pen on Fabriano paper
12,5 x 18 cm

Works on paper exploring the sign as an architectural event. This project brings together expressive mark-making and geometric abstraction into a set of compositions that bear the resemblance of a sign. Like architectural blueprints, signs denote a type of action: be it gestural, directional, informational, or otherwise. They are more akin to an event than they are to a symbol—expressing not ideas but movements. This project is interested in the potential of the sign as an event and the qualities that may arise from treating it as such.
